It is with deep sadness that we let our extended family of Consort clients, suppliers and friends know about the heart-breaking news that our recently retired co-founder Steve passed away on the 1st November.
Steve founded Consort with Ray Perry in 1998 – I joined them in 2000 (and Paul in 2006) having previously worked with them in 1997. So continued years of successful design conscientiousness and capers much to the unique energy and humour that we all experienced with Steve. He was always going the extra mile (or 100) for clients and friends in true Steve and Consort spirit, and wouldn’t rest until a job was delivered safely and on time.
Always ready for some wicked pranks and giggles, on occasion he could be seen walking down from our East Finchley studio with a superman cape and underpants over his clothes, taking a toy rabbit for a walk on a wire lead or bringing in grappa to sample from his friends on his allotment.
Steve had moved to Wales in recent years, continuing to work remotely in his beloved Pembrokeshire. He was a devoted husband, cat collector and immersed himself in being part of the fabric of his adopted home and land. Originally hailing from Sheffield, his network of friends was abundant and we feel bereft without him.
Donations to the wonderful home care charity Steve received in his last days can made via this link for the Paul Sartori Foundation.
Long may your star shine Steve.
